Welcome!
September 2022
Becoming provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at °®¶¹´«Ã½ is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I am truly excited to be part of the °®¶¹´«Ã½ University leadership team. I'm proud to be partnering with President Harvey Stenger, the other vice presidents and the deans as °®¶¹´«Ã½ continues its stellar upward trajectory.
As I continue to learn about the campus, I have been deeply impressed with everyone’s commitment to students, research and the surrounding community, and I am gratified to see that °®¶¹´«Ã½ shares many of my personal passions for diversity, internationalization and multi-disciplinary collaborations.
Personally, my life was changed forever because of the experience of being outside of my cultural comfort zone when I was in the Peace Corps, on three Fulbright awards and through my worldwide teaching experiences, and I want all students to have the opportunity for similarly life-expanding (and career-skills expanding) cross-cultural training.
Throughout my three decades public and private higher education experience, I have also supported efforts to diversify campuses and have played an active role in creating and expanding multi-disciplinary, cross-college initiatives in areas including gender studies, sustainable development, community health and data sciences — all thriving areas at °®¶¹´«Ã½.
This position of chief academic officer that I hold is integral to all that we do at °®¶¹´«Ã½, and I pledge to continue to build on the University’s strong foundation and to help articulate a vision for our academic future, providing intellectual leadership and support for our faculty; fostering a culture of collaboration among faculty, administrative leadership and staff; and serving as an inspiring presence to our students.
