Regional chapter and affinity roundup
By Steve Seepersaud
The BK9 restaurant in Brooklyn had extra splashes of green March 17, and it wasn't just because of St. Patrick's Day. °®¶¹´«Ã½ alumni from the classes of 1980 through 1990 had a reunion brunch; it was the first-ever for this affinity group. About 20 alumni got together to share stories and Caribbean food, and to discuss future gatherings in the Metro New York region.
"It was wonderful seeing fellow °®¶¹´«Ã½ alumni whom I haven't seen in many years," said Carmen Erskine-Williams '87, who serves on the group's planning committee. "The venue, food and gathering were spectacular! For those who couldn't attend, we look forward to seeing you at a future alumni event."
The San Francisco region is an epicenter of high tech and home to more than 2,000 °®¶¹´«Ã½ alumni. The Alumni Association held a gathering for the "Best and Brightest of the Bay Area" March 28 at Opal in Mountain View. Upinder Dhillon, School of Management dean and Koffman Scholar, covered the latest University initiatives with the group, while Joe Tiesi '86, associate director of undergraduate admissions, shared how alumni in the Bay Area can actively assist the University's efforts to recruit top students. The featured alumni speaker was Dave Zilberman '00, managing director of Comcast Ventures. He leads the firm's enterprise software, cybersecurity and financial services investment efforts. Zilberman discussed his views on venture capital and innovation.
