Background

Emily Juozitis joined the Office of Emergency Management as a Training and Exercise Planner in June of 2023. In her role, Emily assists with the coordination and facilitation of all aspects of the Office of Emergency Management. Her position focuses on the development of trainings and exercises for key members of the University community, as well as the creation of written emergency plans for the University. In addition, Emily is a member of the University’s Emergency Response Team and the Incident Management Team.

Emily has a Bachelor of Arts from the University at Albany, State University of New York in Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity. In her time at the University at Albany, Emily gathered a plethora of knowledge and experience in the field of Emergency Management. Emily completed over 100 hours of training which were hosted by agencies such as the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) The Center for Homeland and Defense, The United States Department of Homeland Security, and The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). In addition to her education, Emily had the opportunity to intern with both local and state agencies including the Endicott Police Department and the Public Information Office at the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (NYS DHSES). In her time at NYS DHSES, Emily was responsible for assisting with the creation of written documents and press releases with topics ranging from fire prevention, flood awareness, FEMA’S funeral assistance program for COVID-19 related deaths, New York State’s Citizen Preparedness Course, and the 2020 Disaster Commissioner Report. Emily also helped create content that was shared on the agency’s social media pages.

Born and raised in Vestal, New York, Emily is thrilled to be able to bring her knowledge and skills back to her hometown. Emily loves this community and hopes to make an impact in her time here at °®¶¹´«Ã½. In her free time, Emily loves to attend local events hosted by our community, going to concerts and spending time with her friends and family.
