Background

Aggeliki Pelekidis was born in Brooklyn but moved around a lot thanks to her nomadic Greek parents. She worked in public relations in NYC for many years including being the Director of Public Affairs for the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the Manager of Communications for the New York Aquarium, and the Director of Marketing Communications for the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. She earned an MA and Ph.D in English with a creative writing emphasis from °®¶¹´«Ã½. Her collection of short stories, Patrimonium, won the Distinguished Dissertation Award in Creative Writing. Ann Beattie selected a story of hers as the first-prize winner of the New Ohio Review’s fiction contest. Her writing has appeared in The Michigan Quarterly Review, McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, Confrontation, and many more publications. Her novel, Unlucky Mel, will be published in September 2024 by Cornell University Press’s Three Hills Imprint.
