Undergraduate Nursing Today's complex healthcare system requires the best preparation for the professional
practice of nursing. Education for nurses includes not only strong technical skills,
but also skills in understanding patient needs at all levels. Our undergraduate nursing
programs provide a solid foundation from which baccalaureate-prepared candidates are
poised to take and pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN).
School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences °®¶¹´«Ã½â€™s School of Pharmacy educates students who understand the value
of evidence-based, patient-centered pharmaceutical care and innovative research, and
scientists who will extend the knowledge base of pharmaceutical sciences in the areas
of drug target discovery, drug testing and drug delivery.
Physical Therapy °®¶¹´«Ã½'s Division of Physical Therapy is committed to developing the next generation
of physical therapy clinicians, educators and leaders by providing students with the
resources, education, guidance and opportunities they need to be successful. Simulated
and live-patient interactions ensure students are both practice and team ready.
Occupational Therapy The Division of Occupational Therapy at °®¶¹´«Ã½ is designed to prepare
reflective, motivated and disciplined occupational therapists for clinical scholarship
mastery in the roles of practitioner, manager and contributor who are prepared for
society’s ever-changing needs.
Speech and Language Pathology The Division of Speech and Language Pathology at °®¶¹´«Ã½ aspires to
prepare speech and language professionals who will improve the quality of life for
children, adolescents and adults dealing with communication and swallowing disorders
in the Southern Tier of New York state and throughout the nation.
Public Health The Master of Public Health (MPH) program, accredited by the Council on Education
for Public Health (CEPH), prepares graduates to analyze complex public health issues
and work collaboratively to create healthier communities.
Social Work °®¶¹´«Ã½â€™s Department of Social Work gives you the skills to improve
the lives of individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities. Our mission
is to prepare social workers for autonomous, knowledge-based, generalist and advanced
generalist practice within an integrated community of scholars, practitioners and
learners.
The °®¶¹´«Ã½ campus fosters close working relationships with physicians in community-based
(not Upstate-owned) clinical facilities, including the UHS Healthcare System, Ascension
Lourdes, and private practices. We provide many opportunities for inter-professional
development with °®¶¹´«Ã½'s Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Sciences students,
convenient access to many clerkship sites, and modern facilities for learning.
TRUST The Rural and Underserved Service Track (TRUST) is a collaboration between °®¶¹´«Ã½
University’s Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences, School of Pharmacy and
Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Department of Social Work, and SUNY Upstate Medical University
and the community. The main goal of this unique, competitive, co-curricular track
is to develop a group of healthcare professionals dedicated to caring for rural, underserved
populations through interprofessional teamwork.
