We invite you to take a moment to recognize the outstanding contributions of your supervisors by nominating them for the prestigious °®¶¹´«Ã½ Student Employment Supervisor of the Year Award. This award is a special acknowledgment of the vital role that supervisors play in your educational and professional journey.
About the program
This year, student nominations will be evaluated in one of three categories, each highlighting a different aspect of exceptional supervision:
- Career Readiness
This category recognizes supervisors who excel in preparing their student employees for the professional world by emphasizing soft skills and career readiness.
Criteria for nomination could include:
- Demonstrating a commitment to developing soft skills such as communication, teamwork, adaptability, and community service.
- Providing opportunities for skill-building workshops or training sessions related to professional development.
- Offering constructive feedback and mentorship to help students navigate the nuances of the workplace.
- Creating an environment that encourages the development of essential skills for success in any career path.
- Diversity and Inclusion
This category acknowledges supervisors who actively foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace.
Criteria for nomination could include:
- Promoting an inclusive work environment that values and respects individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Implementing initiatives or programs that celebrate diversity and foster a sense of belonging in the workplace and/or on campus.
- Encouraging open and respectful communication among team members, regardless of differences.
- Leadership and Critical Thinking
This category focuses on supervisors who inspire leadership qualities and critical thinking skills in their student employees.
Criteria for nomination could include:
- Encouraging a culture of innovation, where employees are empowered to think critically and propose creative solutions.
- Demonstrating effective leadership through mentorship, guidance, and the ability to inspire others.
- Supporting the development of decision-making skills and the ability to navigate challenges with a strategic mindset.
How to nominate
Nominating your supervisor is easy!
- Complete the
- Draft a Letter of Nomination: Craft a letter expressing your appreciation and detailing specific examples of how your supervisor has contributed to your academic and professional growth in one of the following three categories: Career Readiness, Diversity and Inclusion or Leadership and Critical Thinking.
- Send the letter to stemploy@binghamton.edu no later than Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025.
*Nominations that do not include BOTH the nomination form and a letter of nomination will not be considered.
Winners will be announced on February 17, 2025!

The campus-level winner of the °®¶¹´«Ã½ Student Employment Supervisor of the Year Award will be nominated for the Northeast Association of Student Employment Administrators Supervisor of the Year (NEASEA) program, providing an opportunity for broader recognition.
