Cultural Recognition Ceremony 

Each year, as part of Commencement and end-of-year celebrations, the Multicultural Resource Center hosts its Cultural Recognition Ceremony. The event celebrates and recognizes the accomplishments of the cultural community at °®¶¹´«Ã½ and honors graduating students. It includes performances by cultural student organizations and award recognitions for organizations, students, faculty and staff who went above and beyond in empowering members of the cultural community.

Award Nominations

The CRC planning committee invites students, faculty and staff to nominate individuals for numerous recognition awards to be presented at this year's CRC celebration.

Rising Student Award | Outstanding Senior Award | Campus Community Leadership Award | Excellence in Perseverance Award | Distinguished Diversity Service


Rising Student Award

This award goes to a first-year, sophomore, or junior student who is part of the cultural community and has shown a commitment to engagement and interest in leadership positions.


Outstanding Senior Award

This award goes to a senior who is part of the cultural community and has shown a consistent commitment to leadership, advocacy and promoting solidarity. This student displayed significant campus involvement and leadership throughout their time in areas such as, but not limited to, the Multicultural Resource Center, student government, Residential Life, and/or being an Executive Board member of any cultural organization.


Campus Community Leadership Award

This award goes to two undergraduate or graduate students who have shown outstanding campus leadership. It acknowledges students who are actively engaged with the cultural community, working for the betterment of others while exhibiting excellence in co-curricular activities such as the arts, music, athletics, etc.


Excellence in Perseverance Award

This award goes to an undergraduate or graduate student who is a member of opportunity program(s) on campus that support underrepresented students (i.e., EOP, TRIO, SSS, CSTEP, LSAMP, Upward Bound, McNair) and has shown leadership within their program(s), their community at large and other underserved communities.


Distinguished Diversity Service Award

This award is given to one faculty and one staff member who promotes initiatives centered on inclusion. These initiatives may include efforts to support the recruitment and retention of diverse faculty and students, teaching or research that expands and embraces our understanding of inclusiveness, cultural programming or related initiatives, community outreach activities, or other possibilities that enhance diversity and inclusion.
