New Students of Color Mentoring Program
About
This mentorship program will help enhance the college experience for first-year students of color by:
- Improving integration into the student’s selected field of study
- Reducing social barriers that impact motivation and persistence
- Expanding the student’s network of developmental mentoring relationships for long-term persistence and positive achievement outcomes.
The NSOCMP encourages mentors and mentees to meet in person at least three times a semester during their first two years on campus. Meetings can range from 30 minutes to an hour at an agreed-upon mutual time and provide a space for questions, ideas, conversations, and guidance. With mentors from various departments on campus, this program offers many opportunities and expertise!
