Undergraduate tracks

Major Requirements

The major consists of 10 courses (40 credit hours). At least six of the 10 courses (24 credits) must be taken at the 300-level or above. Credits are granted for equivalent courses.

A. Track 1: General Geography Course Requirements:
 
Students must fulfill the following requirements for the major:

GEOG 120 - Weather And Climate OR
GEOG 121 - Physical Geography
 
GEOG 103 - Multi-Cultl Geographies Of US OR
GEOG 151 - World Regional Geography OR
GEOG 160 - GIS for Social Sci &Humanities OR
GEOG 260 - Intro GIS/Spatial Analysis
One course in statistics
Two GEOG courses on cultural/regional geography or GIS
Four additional GEOG courses

B. Track 2: Computer Applications in Human-Environmental Analysis (GIS) Course Requirements:
 
Students must fulfill the following requirements for the major:

GEOG 260 - Intro GIS/Spatial Analysis
One course in statistics
One introductory computer programming course (HARP 150 or CS 100 or 110, or 140)
GEOG 461 - Advanced Raster GIS & GPS
GEOG 463 - GIS And Spatial Analysis
GEOG 465 - Remote Sensing And GIS
Five additional GEOG courses

C. Track 3: Environmental and Resource Management Course Requirements:
 
Students must fulfill the following requirements for the major:

GEOG 121 - Physical Geography
GEOG 221 - Global Climate Change
One course in statistics
One GEOG course in cultural or regional geography
Four GEOG courses on physical or environmental geography
Two GEOG courses on mapping or computer applications

D. Track 4: Urban and Regional Planning Course Requirements:
 
Students must fulfill the following requirements for the major:

GEOG 121 - Physical Geography
GEOG 234 - Urban Geog: Global Linkages OR
GEOG 235 - Intro. to Urban & Reg. Plan
GEOG 260 - Intro GIS/Spatial Analysis
One course in statistics
One upper-level GEOG course on cultural or regional geography
Two upper-level GEOG courses on urban or economic geography
One upper-level GEOG course in physical or environmental geography
Two upper-level GEOG courses in mapping or computer applications

E. Track 5: Urban: Economic/Retailing Emphasis Course Requirements:
 
Students must fulfill the following requirements for the major:

GEOG 101 - Introduction to Geography OR
GEOG 103 - Multi-Cultl Geographies Of US OR
GEOG 151 - World Regional Geography
 
GEOG 260 - Intro GIS/Spatial Analysis
One course in statistics
One upper-level cultural or regional geography course
Two upper-level urban/economic courses
Two upper-level mapping/applications courses
One upper-level elective
Select one of the following four courses:
