Off Campus Programs and Services

Mission Statement

The mission of Off Campus Programs and Services is to provide services and programs that support the University's goal of achieving an environment that encourages and promotes educational excellence. Off Campus Programs and Services focuses much of its efforts on the welfare of students who do not reside in University-managed housing. Since off-campus students vary widely in age, interests, institutional identification or affiliation and reside in various local communities, efforts to provide service is multifaceted, purposeful and specific to current needs.

While our efforts are not limited to our off-campus population, we seek ways to assist all students in learning how to live safely, successfully and independently in the communities that surround the University.

Off Campus Programs and Services prides itself on its ability to respond to situations, but, like other units of the University, seeks ways to prevent problems through education. Our staff and students maintain a unique relationship, a partnership that encourages the formation of new ideas and new approaches to problems.

The primary operating assumptions of Off Campus Programs and Services are expressed in the following statement:

  • Off Campus Programs and Services will be as open and democratic as possible. Everyone should be encouraged to participate.
  • Off Campus Programs and Services should try to link the community and University together in as many useful symbiotic ways as possible, through the exchange of services and ideas.
  • Off Campus Programs and Services ensures that students are competent people who are able to create and administer sizable projects.
  • Off Campus Programs and Services encourages, supports and maintains a self-help philosophy.

Community relations are of the utmost importance to Off Campus Programs and Services and are addressed through supporting student participation in community activities through volunteerism, the Campus/Community Coalition of °®¶¹´«Ã½, and most importantly, the Good Neighbor Program.

What We Offer

Off Campus Programs and Services has information to help you make the most of living off-campus. Off Campus Programs and Services serves as a resource for both students who currently live off-campus, as well as those who are thinking off moving off-campus. Preventive measures such as being familiar with your lease, municipal policies, state laws, zoning, etc., will help you enjoy a trouble-free year off-campus.

Off Campus Programs and Services offers many services including free legal clinics, information on transportation, computerized housing lists and comprehensive advising on housing issues by staff members. Our office is located in The Union, UUW 204C. For more information stop in, call 777-2768 or continue browsing our site.

While we do not make living arrangements for off-campus students, we do provide students with information on what is available. Students will then need to contact the landlords (or other students if searching for potential housemates) directly.
