The Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Program is a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded initiative designed to support undergraduate students who face or have faced social, educational, and/or economic barriers to careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEMS) fields. There is a coalition of institutions within the State University of New York (SUNY) system that collaborate with federal, state, and local government agencies; major national laboratories; private industry and foundations; and professional and community organizations.
What We Do?
LSAMP helps students:
- Navigate a Research 1 university.
- Excel in math, science, or engineering majors.
- Graduate on the "cutting-edge" of your discipline.
- Graduate school and/or industry access.
Eligibility
To be eligible for Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP), you must:
- Be a U.S. citizens or permanent resident
- From an underrepresented racial/ethnic group: Native American, Black, African-American, Hispanic, Latino, Native Hawaiian, or other Pacific Islander
- Pursue an undergraduate degree in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Examples include Biology, Biological Science, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering (Biomedical, Electrical & Computer, Mechanical, Industrial Systems), Environmental Science, Geological Science, Mathematics, and Physics.
- Have a minimum of a 2.8 cumulative GPA.
- Be committed to fulfilling the LSAMP participation responsibilities and expectations.
