Mountainview traditions

Mountainview College may be °®¶¹´«Ã½'s newest community, but in just a few short years traditions as strong as any on campus have taken hold.

Fall in Love with Mountainview

A fall-themed gathering for students, parents, and families with a range of activities from pie-your-staff, to crafting with our MSW Interns, to socializing with our Collegiate Professor Dana, and pumpkin painting! Come meet the whole staff of Mountainview College and join us for warm drinks and loads of snacks, featuring warm apple cider, donuts, and candy apples!

Salamander Days

As spring breaks across °®¶¹´«Ã½, thousands of yellow spotted salamanders emerge from the woods in °®¶¹´«Ã½'s nature preserve beside Mountainview and cross the connector road for the pond below. It's also the time that Mountainview residents emerge from their halls, shake off winter's doldrums and compete in a week-long series of events to see who's the most spirited.

Music in Mountainview

Mountainview Jams are a biweekly open mic/open jam featuring a full band setup (drums, electric guitar and amp, bass and amp, mics, lights, and full sound provided), hosted by Mountainview Collegiate Professor Dana Stewart and her band Dr. Dana: The Jam Dept. Students, faculty, and staff perform solo, with a group of friends, or the "Mountainview Jammers" (whoever is there and wants to join in). All levels and all styles of music are welcome. Other musical events in Mountainview include drum circles, special concerts, music clinics and rock and roll movie nights. Mountainview is also home to a UNIV 101 course for first-year students, "Festivals, Fans, and Jam Bands." The final project for the class is a student-run music festival.

Ciao, Mountainview!

Italian movie nights (featuring a mix of new and classic films) and Italian cooking nights (where students prepare — and eat! — traditional dishes from various regions of Italy) are regular happenings in Mountainview, hosted by faculty members from the Italian program.
