Alumni Association Special Recognition Awards
°®¶¹´«Ã½ alumni are bold, growth-minded and frontrunners in their focus areas. Their high achievement brings pride to the University and edifies the alumni network. Through an annual awards program, we recognize those alumni whose accomplishments truly stand out.
The nomination process for 2025 has closed. Awards will be presented Saturday, May 3, 2025, at The °®¶¹´«Ã½ Club.
***For all awards, the nominee must be a graduate of °®¶¹´«Ã½. Self-nominations will only be considered for the BOLD 10 Under 10 Awards. The nominee may not be a current member of the Alumni Association board. Alumni can only be nominated for one award each year.
The Glenn G. Bartle Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes and honors a graduate who has distinguished himself or herself since graduating from the University and serves as a memorial to Dr. Glenn G. Bartle, the first president of Harpur College. This award honors alumni who have rendered outstanding voluntary service to the °®¶¹´«Ã½ community, while also exhibiting excellence in his or her field and/or service to society. This is the Alumni Association's highest honor.
The Alumni Achievement Award honors a highly distinguished alumnus or alumna who, over the course of a decade or more, has exemplified outstanding, significant professional achievement. Examples include serving in a highly visible senior leadership position within his or her field; participation on special committees, boards, governing or advisory roles related to his or her field; or considered to be an expert in his or her field as demonstrated by published works or serving frequently as a media interview source.
The Edward Weisband Distinguished Alumni Award for Public Service or Contribution to Public Affairs recognizes one alumnus or alumna each year whose life, work, career and contributions exemplify the highest standards of service and deepest dedication to the sustenance of the common good.
***NEW: Diversity and Inclusion Award - To align our recognition and celebration of success and contributions of our alumni network with our values of appreciation and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) in our engagement pursuits, we have created the Diversity and Inclusion Award as a Signature Award recognizing each year University alumni who have made notable contributions to the principles of DEIB.
The Alumni Association and Bearcats of the Last Decade (BOLD) Leadership Council sponsor the BOLD 10 Under 10 Alumni Awards, which recognize 10 changemakers who graduated from °®¶¹´«Ã½ within the last 10 years. Honorees have achieved considerable success in their field; are active volunteers, mentors or activists; have made significant contributions toward alumni engagement; and are positive role models for our students.
The BOLD 10 Under 10 recipient deemed to have made the strongest impact through his or her endeavors will be awarded the Lois B. DeFleur Distinguished Young Alumni Award.
