Harpur Law Council Private Sector Internship

The Harpur Law Council (HLC) Private Sector Summer Law Internship gives °®¶¹´«Ã½ juniors and seniors the opportunity to experience law in the private sector; to make informed decisions about the choice of a legal career, based on their own experience; to establish professional connections with HLC member attorneys and other BU law alumni; and will be paid by the firm or company to defray living and travel expenses during the internship.

Internship Overview

• What is the Harpur Law Council Private Sector Law Summer Internship?
  This paid summer internship program gives °®¶¹´«Ã½ juniors and seniors the opportunity to:
  

  • Experience the practice of law in the private sector.

  • Make informed decisions about the choice of a legal career, based upon their own experience.

  • Establish professional connections with Harpur Law Council member attorneys and other BU law alumni.

  • Preference will be given to students from underrepresented backgrounds and to students who have not yet participated in opportunities such as this. 

  • Selected interns will be paid by the firm or company to help defray living and travel expenses during the internship.

• How many internships are available?

  For summer 2024:

  • Four internships will be offered in New York City.
• Where will the internships take place?

  Confirmed sites for the summer 2024 include:

• How long are the internships?
  Students chosen for the internship must work full-time at the assigned host organization for eight to ten weeks during the summer.
• When is the internship deadline to apply?
  Completed applications are due to the Pre-Law Advising Office at prelaw@binghamton.edu by 4:30 PM, March 27, 2024.
